I've only ever ran my 1.8tfsi on V Power as recommended.
Any ramifications long term of using standard 95 RON stuff? V Power is around £1.30/litre around here.

95 works just fine.

Suck it and see; some engines are setup from factory for 98+ so can fully utilise the higher octane, some engines (subjectively) seem to 'like' it, some it makes no discernable difference. From memory that engine only 'requires' normal 95.

Tesco Momentum is 99RON and generally a fair bit cheaper than V-Power.

yes

I had my 2.0 TFSi re-mapped and they said it was the only fuel to use if you wanted the car to run at it's best.
They actually said they have drained certain fuels from cars that were not performing correctly and refilled with Tesco stuff.

slight thread detour, I'm looking at getting a '06 TFSi with the Sp.Ed 217bhp engine and getting it re-mapped.
Any preferred tuners you guys use and what kind've price should you be paying for a proper re-map. Or are these 'Chip in a box' yokes any good?

I know people will say revo or apr, but look at more-bhp in crewe, full rolling road and about £250 all in i would imagine, Jason, the owner is a genuinely nice bloke.

My golf gti Pirelli went from 230bhp to 300bhp for £200.

300bhp?! cripes!

I guess that follows in to my other question.
Is there a noticeable ''umf'' after the remap and this is childish I know, what would the 0-60 time difference be post & pre map. Like I said, very childish! but I guess it gives some measure or reference point against similar marques?

It was the increase in torque that made me smile.

I'd always run any turbo engine on 99.
It does give you better response and better Mpg negating the cost difference.
Certainly if you want to remap it then you should use 99 at all times.

Rtech would be good for tuning, MRC too, or APR or Revo

thing is you get what you pay for, Rtech are probably best tfsi mappers

Add a hpfp and downpipe and with that K04 turbo on the Perelli you will make 350bhp

The standard TFSI on he GTI has a K03turbo,
With the setup above you will only make 300bhp because the turbo runs out of puff

check the manual, for high performance variants like 2.0 TSI it clearly states: 95 has a loss of power, so 98 is to go for maximum powerrr

with 1.4/1.8 it does not, so it's mapped for 95. not much point (in terms of power) to use higher.
