80 in 60 question

Just had an NIP for doing 80 in a 60 on the A30 at 00.30hrs back in February. It wasn't my vehicle hence the delay in landing on my door mat. I remember getting flashed because the vehicle ahead of me had overtaken me just moments before and had passed the camera without setting it off.

I was a little surprised I was doing 80 but nobody to blame but myself. I've got a clean licence, no previous speed awareness course (in previous 10 years anyway) but was I going to fast to be offered one now?

Too fast for a course, not fast enough to head straight to court - it'll almost certainly be 3 points & £100.

I wonder if you were more of a risk than another driver doing 60 at the same place and time having had a glass of wine or pint of ale?
The authorities appear to think your behaviour is less desirable.

There speaks the voice of experience. Trust me, as someone who openly admits to washing down opiate pain killers with glasses of wine, drink driving and has been disqualified from driving, you're well ahead on the idiot scale. Anyway, I'll leave the last word to you.

I've been done for 81 in a 60 before, Mark. 3 points and £100 fine.

I think too fast for a course.. you could be lucky, out with the old man and he got pulled for 80ish on a 60mph section past Hayle, ended up with a course.

My own fault but just weird the car ahead didn't get busted and he'd just overtaken me.
