Help to buy ISA query
Discussion
My wife and I are due to exchange on our first house.
We have an help to buy ISA and are just filling in the paperwork. However, my wife was gifted some agricultural land between her and 5 other members of her family when her grandfather passed away a few years ago. We have thought nothing of this previously.
The ISA form states that if either of us has had an Interest in any land we may not be eligible for the bonus payment. I thought this just related to dwellings, not land. Neither of us has has a mortgage or owned a house before so think we will be ok but are worried about this? Also how this impacts on Stamp Duty? Can anyone help?
Also our solicitor has contacted HMRC for guidance.
Thanks in advance
