Which Engine Oil for 4.5 Cerb
Discussion
Hi All, Which oil is recommended for a Cerb 4.5 (2000MY). I have been advised by a TVR main dealer to use Castrol RS 10W 60 and an independent to use Shell Helix ultra 5W 40. It is currently running on Mobil 1 0W 40 (with no problems). Should I change or stick to what I am running it on (although I do feel that the Mobil 0W 40 is a bit thin). I need some replies quick as I wanted to get the oil today and put it in tonight. Thanks in advance for your replies. Col (P.S my first post since registering so be gentle with me)

Ask for Guy or Simon. I am currently using their Silkolene Ester based fully synthetic 10W-50 oil. They will do you a good deal dependant upon how much you buy. Roughly about £60 for 10 litres delivered (cans of 5L as opposed to 4L). Top quality oil. They also do quite a few Group Buys, I buy mine by quoting another car forum I post on....

Steve,
I noticed a slight increase in oil pressure and also the car doesn't use as much on the Silkolene (doesn't use much anyway, but even better now). The car previously had a slightly thinner oil used by the previous owner (5W-40), so I expected better performance anyway. Being Ester based it is meant to be about the best type of Fully synthetic you can buy, better than the Mobil 1's etc...I used it in my last two cars with excellent results also.
