Bmw 520d -2014 - can not import music from USB

Hi all,

Hope you can help me with the below. Done lots of homework but none of the solutions i found online work.

So i bought a second hand 520d for my wife, running like a dream but can not seem to get the music over.

Few key points
1. car comes with business sat nav and have 2 USB ports, one arm rest and one in the glove box (assuming it has an internal drive)
2. when usb is plugged into the port under the arm rest, i can play music directly from the usb. However, there is no option to import or copy
3. when usb is plugged into the port in the glove box, it is said No USB device. Even when i tried the “Option” botton, still no option to import.
4. usb seems to work fine as i can use it to copy music into my X5 (using the glove box plug)
5. the glove box port seems also ok as when i tried to connect my iphone in there, the iphone would show charging
6. USB format is FAT32 (as commented somewhere on the internet this is the format that should work)
7. Softward got updated as well
8. When clicked CD/Media on idrive - there is NO “Music Collection” shown up?

Did i miss something, or should i just accept that i can not copy music over? If so what option do i have except for playing music directly through USB or AUX

Afraid I’m not familiar with that models music download abilities however another option is a Bluetooth aux adapter. This would allow you to stream music from your phone.

You can’t import music on the business nav it’s a feature on the Pro nav only as that has an inbuilt hdd/ssd
