Still currently looking for a load lugger and general estate runabout and Ive stumbled across the Leon FR 184TDI DSG
Anyone have any experience of these?
Going to take one out at the dealer on the weekend but just thought i would ask here first
LED headlights any good in the real world?
Ta.

I have a cupra 300 and find the lights terrible on dip beam but like daylight on full beam. On an unlit road in the dark you are hard pressed to see very far in front of you on dip beam, so you have to drive kind of slower.
On my 290, the lights are fine. But LED does suffer from reduced visibility in the wet due to the wavelength of light. Here we go...
Near enough the start he mentions the new front end particularly the led headlights that he is selling as having more light intensity and longer reach, which from reading about them on the internet, seems to be the main concerns.

Thanks chaps.
Just out of interest, what year are your Cupras?
I’ve seen a video on YouTube where it describes the 2016 model with new led headlights with more intensity and more range.
I’ll see if I can dig it out when I’m on a computer.

Apparently there is a screw to adjust so the throw of light goes a bit further, but I haven't done it yet.
I have the exact model from 2016 (but manual). Options are probably different now, but mine has the tech pack (led headlights, larger sat nav), the interior led pack and the 18" wheel upgrade.
I've been very happy with it. It's fast enough, averages 50mpg, and has more space than I've ever needed. I've had a couple of issues:
1) Rattle from driver's door speaker. Fixed under warranty at first service.
2) Clonking from what I thought was rear suspension. Seat couldn't diagnose it. I eventually found it myself and it was the rear seat bracket rattling. Apparently common across Leon, Golf, Octavia. A bit of electrical tape solves it.
I don't think the dipped headlights are any worse than the xenon's I had on my S2000, but they're not really any better either. I probably get flashed once a month by someone thinking I'm on main beam.

I've got a 2014 184, although not the ST model.
On the LED headlights - i've never owned a xenon equipped car so I can't compare with those. I much prefer them to traditional halogen headlights, the whiter light, the sharper beam cutoff when on dipped. Only issue i've had is the leveling mechanism sometimes sticks in sub zero weather.
On the trim rattles - yeah the interior loosens up with the mileage. I never bothered chasing the trim rattles with the dealer when it was still under warranty.
But overall, it's a very good car.

I haven't tried one on 17's so can't directly compare.
It's firm but it's not over the top. Never had any complaints from passengers on the ride quality. Even with our crap roads of the last few months I never wished I had the 17's.
on the other hand the 18's are the first thing most folk comment on, even non petrol head folk. Lots of positive comments on the wheels.

How do you find the ride on the 18” wheels?
They do look good, however I don’t mind sacrifing that for the 17” if it softens the ride, even by a small amount.
I don't know if the two wheel choices are the same as two years ago, but I thought the 18's looked much better then. I'm perfectly happy with the ride but this might be more to do with the roads I typically drive on. Never tried the 17's so cannot compare. They do look good, however I don’t mind sacrifing that for the 17” if it softens the ride, even by a small amount.
