Alfa 159 Turbo Noise

I run a 1.9JDTM (150) on 100K miles. Very recently I've noticed what I think to be the turbo making a strange noise when on high boost. Pottering around town it's fine but when I give it some boot it sounds like what can be described as a loud induction noise coupled with someone scrunching up paper. I'm assuming it's the turbo but it's very hard to diagnose.

Does it sound like new turbo time or could it be something else?
