Is it just me, or are they pushing their playlists on us more?

Those bloody Janelle Monae, Courtney Barnett, Goat Girl, Charlotte Gainsbourg and tUnE-yArDs (yes, that's how they spell their name) tracks seem to be on very heavy rotation at the moment.

I don't remember being this irritated listening to 6Music since George Lamb was there mad

Tend to only listen in the evenings, Marc Riley has his preferred tunes which he can play a little too often but generally with Tom Ravenscroft and Gideon Coe they don't really do this.

The times I listen during the daytime in the week, it can be a bit samey.

Someone had it on the other day where I was working, think they try a bit too hard to be 'too cool for school' with their playlist.

Bella fookin Union. Any act on this label has to be introduced as “blah blah & the blah blahs on Bella Union”....I don’t need to know what label they’re on. Makes no difference. Gets on my wick, not sure why. Still, 6 Music is the station I listen to the most.

Definitely my favourite radio station. Where else might you hear classic Motown or Stax, Blues, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Folk, Jazz even ambient and some classical in the course of an hour? Yeah sometimes they "champion" an artist or tune a bit much (yes. tune-yards is currently boiling my p!ss too!) but generally it is as varied as my tastes the only "DJ" I will avoid is "Nemone" who is too dancy for my taste.

Yes they do this, as do all radio stations that play new music. Can jar occasionally if it's a tune I'm not keen on, but on the other hand have found some stuff I really love.

Only 2 criticisms of 6Music from me:
  • Steve Lamacq's endless 90s indie disco is well past its sell-by date
  • Tom Robinson squanders the Saturday night vibe built up by Craig Charles. That 9-12 slot badly needs dance music.
