Watch safe

Having being recently broken into and having 20 years of collecting gone down the tubes - can anyone recommend a decent VFM safe ? Cheers

I would pay a visit to your nearest independent retailer of security equipment and buy something perhaps a little bigger but in which you can keep other items of value too inc documents.

The small wall safes needed to be well hidden and bolted to something so the scrotes can't get a pry bar behind them. I've got one in an airing cupboard. I mean, no one's going to look in there, right? :-(

Keep my SeaMaster in it, along with the passports, will, and a few hunded Euros. You can fit motion sensing lights in cupboards with wall safes, with Velcro or a loud motion sense alarm in the vicinity for a bit more reassurance.

Floor safes might be better, or something that can't be removed or carried. Angle grinders can get most things open eventually, so something that can be hidden or not dragged out of the door is better.

I'm told that burglars head for bedrooms as that's where all the 'swag' is. So put it somewhere else. Do burglars up-end kitchens?

Also worth checking with your home & contents insurer. Premium reductions possibly available if you get the right spec.

Mine is a £5000 cash rated one which I needed to stay insured with my watch collection.

Deffo worth checking with your insurer, they will have a “spec” based on the value of what you keep in it. If you don’t have the correct rating they likely won’t cover if items are stolen.
I keep my Rolex and IWC in my office safe, to keep the value down and be able to have a smaller safe at home, 4th floor flat, no lifts! So had to be me and mate liftable lol

I used to have a safe bolted to an external wall in my last house. Hidden away behind other stuff in my "junk room".

When I moved house, it was again bolted to an external wall, housed inside a backless pine cabinet. Since redecorating that room, the safe hasn't been re-installed or used. Valuables are secreted amongst random junk in various locations.

This post has got me thinking about where I could fit the safe, out of sight from any casual burglars, and secure enough to deter someone with a crowbar. Kitchen cupboard, or into the loft space in the dormer maybe?

A key lock unit with decent rating for cash and valuables.

Convenient because it will tightly fit 6 Rapport Evo7 watchwinders. Unused anchor bolt holes will allow the power cables through to a power socket.
