I'm not meaning rich, because I guess most of us would like to be that, but I mean that well known to the general public that you can't go into the supermarket to buy a bottle of milk without being pestered for your autograph or a selfie.

I can't think of anything worse really....

Fame would probably be one of the worst things that could happen to anyone. That's true, global fame, not being some local radio DJ.

No matter where you go most people will have an opinion on you and won't be shy in sharing it. If you do a Garbo then you'll be an object of eternal fascination.

I remember Mark Wahlberg saying that when he went back to his home neighbourhood if people knew he was there they'd attempt to jump in front of his car so they could sue him.

Anonymity is definitely a shield. If it's gone life would be a lot less tolerable.

I imagine that it would be a pretty awful thing, on the whole.

It's a no from me.

I went to school with a chap who was then Crown Prince (& is now King) of his home country. The liberation that he had as 'just another kid' at a UK boarding school miles from anywhere was immense and you could see the tension rise in him as the end of term approached and he went back to being 'on show' in his own country. It gave me an early sense that genuine global fame (as opposed to Z list celebrity status) is a very double-edged sword

Same here.

What's the benefit of everyone knowing who you are and sticking their nose in your business.

I'd rather be a successful businessman than a celeb (ie the money but not the fame).

Its a no from me for sure.

Mate of mine works in music and film and spends quite a bit of time with and has become good friends with some pretty mega-world-famous people. Just the hassle he receives from media et all trying to use him as a means of access to them is bad enough let alone some of the stories he tells of wierdos trying to hide in studio ceilings or posing as cleaners etc to get close people!

iirc Jason Plato is on PH arguably famouse though not taylor swift. I think being a famouse sports person like say in the premier league might be better than being in films or music. But I think its a price you pay for said life style. however a few weeks ago we were at soft play with the kids an my wife says havw I seen who is behind us (was just some women far as i was concerned). Anyway turns out it was one of girls aloud with her own kids. When my kids were on the merry go round her two were also on there. I noticed guy near me has his phone out an is trying to film her. I steped.back so was right next to him an muttered "fk sake mate she is with her kids" which did cause him to put his phone away but that is not st I would ever want to live with
