Hi all,
I have a 2009 Audi A3 Sportback 2.0tdi Quattro S-Line with "Sports Suspension" and, living in Cornwall, find that the ground clearance is too low and the ride too hard for the Cornish lanes. Can this problem be fixed by changing the coil springs front and back to those for the SE model which has a softer and higher suspension?

I'd imagine the dampers will be different too and it would have to be declared as a mod for insurance purposes. Surely with such a common car it'd be easier and cheaper to change it for an SE?

Thanks for that - I seem to be getting all sorts of conflicting advice and, as you say, for a common 10-year old car, surely many people have had the same problem.

New springs and dampers, rims and rubber - then tell your insurance it's modified.
Or sell it and buy something that does the job you want.

I looked at doing the opposite swap a few years ago as I had a Golf Match and wanted the sports suspension from the GT. It was going to be pretty expensive and not really worth the effort.

You could easily sell it on and buy an SE instead as another poster suggested!

Thanks for that guys. Unless I can do the mod, I'll be keeping the car as is as we know the car so well and it's only done 50k. A great car.

How can it be a great car when the suspension is not suitable for where you live ?, it is obviously very much compromised if you need to raise it.

You will compromise the ride, and reduce the value of the car. Just sell it and buy something more practical. Allroad?

+1

You can fit new suspension and change back when you sell/fit adjustable dampers but it's not the solution. You need something else where the suspension is softer by oem design.

No, most people normally realise that the roads they travel make it not suitable and get the non s-line hehe
