Evening all,

I just saw an ad on my Facebook feed for www.bemighty.com.

This, it transpires, is a company which makes a Spotify media player for a mere $85.99!!

Looking into it further, this apparently means I don't need my phone (despite it having become pretty much the one thing I'll never leave the house without now I can use it to pay for things as well as everything else), as it rather wonderfully allows me to... get this! Drum roll!!! Store music offline for listening to when I don't have mobile data available!!! (So, er, just like my phone then, except my phone isn't limited to 1,000 tracks), and it also automatically updates my playlists, um, sort of just like my phone does then?

Of course, this could be spot on for the tinfoil hat brigade who refuse to have a phone at all, I guess! Except you need to download their app to your phone to initially sync up the device! rofl

I thought the idea of zebrafuel.com was particularly daft until I realised that actually it could make sense for commercial customers with a vehicle fleet to have someone come and refuel all of their vehicles on site for them, but this Spotify player just seems incomprehensibly pointless!

So...

Firstly, can anyone tell me if they can see something I'm missing with this player thing?

Secondly, feel free to keep the thread going with utterly daft products you've come across yourself.

I would have thought this would be useful if you love Spotify and use it for your music and go running or cycling?

I can see a lot of people not wanting to risk damaging their phone by taking it running.

That juicer machine from couple years ago needed expensive packs of pre mashed fruit, was easier to do by hand...

These things, designed to stop the seatbelt chime going off - and double up as a bottle opener. So you can at least go through the windscreen with a mild buzz.

But what if you are a rising Hollywood starlet who needs a poo, you know that a big time Mexican director is wanting the toilet after you.

Only problem is, the day before you had a mixed tandoori starter, keema balti, prawn vindaloo, sagaloo and a garlic naan. All washed down with 6 pints of Guinness and you haven’t been yet.

I initially thought that some people drive without a seatbelt, like taxi drivers or medically exempt, and could use this. Then I thought well couldn't you just plug the seat belt in before you sit down and sit in front of it. So yes, totally useless unless you don't have a bottle opener on your keyring (never leave the house without mine)

Useful if you have buckets and harnesses in a track car...

I'm not into running, but I do a fair amount of cycling. My phone goes with me at all times anyway. Partly in case I need a phone to make a call, but also to record my ride on Strava and for navigation if required. I don't listen to music whilst riding, but if I did, the phone would still be safely in my pack, with Bluetooth headphones.

I do use it at the gym (again with Bluetooth headphones), and if I used this thing instead, it would just mean I'd need to take another device to act as an interval timer.

I have worked place you have to check your mobile phones, or at least have them switched off all day. This would probably have been still allowed onsite.

Yep I wouldn't mind one of these for running with, bit of a pain having to carry a phone.

I'm still waiting for a GPS running watch with this built in though, that would be thr ideal solution.

Get a Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro. Has Spotify built in for off line play lists, bluetooth connection for headphones, heart rate, you can swim with it and can do all the tracking you need. Can be found on ebay for a reasonable price, although slightly more.

Nescafe Azera Coffee to-go.

A box with 4 disposable cups, pre-filled with instant coffee which you just add water to. So you need access to boiling water. Which means you're likely to be making this at home before leaving for your commute. Thereby likely having access to both a travel mug and coffee.

Have we got to the point of utter laziness where we need to be able to skip spooning coffee out of a jar to save vital seconds before running to the train station? fk me.

Yes, people have been eating pot noodles for years so it is predominently the same thing.

Thanks, will take a look. Not sure how I'd feel about ending my long standing relationship with Garmin though. laugh

Just wait until one of your Garmin devices goes wrong a month or so after the end of the warranty period, then the refurbished replacement you buy from them because they refuse to repair the original fails a month or so after the end of that unit's warranty. I didn't have any problem ending my long standing relationship with Garmin after that! hehe

There's one of those in a drawer somewhere. My wife got it, used it once and that was it. I get that it is much smaller than an old school iPod, but so we're MP3 players of the era and they had a screen to tell you what track you were on.

These are useful if you have a two-seater and a heavy bag.
