Escort RS2000 - Maybe Counts as a Classic?

I spotted this today on a used car I was passing. Is £20k realistic?

Well it's registered as a 1972 2-litre so it could be, unless you know more than I do about that particular car. It's certainly not perfect, for example the wheels are wrong for a Mk1.

As to the original question - in case you hadn't noticed, the Mk1 prices, especially for 2-doors like this, have gone crazy in the last few years. If this is a real one and not rotten as a pear then it's kind of in the ball-park currently.

Genuine RS2000 were produced from July 1973 so a K reg is too early

It was previously orange too, RS2000's didn't come in orange IIRC which makes me think it's not a genuine car.

Has it a six clock dash, black headlining and visors.
Is it a type 49 shell, with all of the relevant strengthening panels ?
These are the things to check, but sounds too cheap for what looks like a tidy Mk1

Modena green, great colour, but definitely not a genuine AVO RS2000 , not on a K reg.
It's a replica, but could be worth a closer look.

Even if it isn't a genuine RS2000, if it's all sound it could still be worth that price - MK1 Escort prices have gone crazy!

I saw a restored MK1 Mexico bid up past £20K last year at Brooklands, but I don't think it sold!

Not relevant to this particular car, as it's not a genuine RS2000, but they were available in Orange actually.

Vista Orange was introduced as a colour option for the Mex and RS2 in the summer of 1974, so was one of the rarer colours, being within the last 6-7 months of AVO production.
The last of the three RS2000 I owned back in late 1985 was a Vista Orange car.
