Hey Guys

First time posting on here. Was wondering if someone has similar issues to myself.

I recently changed the crankshaft sensor and both the camshaft sensors as the car was a bit sluggish and spluttering under acceleration to original bmw ones but now the car is even worse.

Firstly my DTC and Handbrake light is lighting up in yellow and i cannot erase this and the car has gone into limp home mode. As a result the car feels like it has now power at all and at times sometimes even feels as though it may stall.
Also when intially turning over the engine the crank now takes an age turning over, before it was almost instant.

Im also getting the following error codes....

53 DME Signal crankshaft sensor

F4 DME Segment timing, true running disturbed

SE1A/present ABS,DSC: CAN data error from DME/DDE (DSC lamp on until ignition reset)

I also did have the following but it has now since gone.....

0F Voltage Supply, EWS3 Control module

Ive taken it to a garage and they seem to think the timing may be out and will have it reset for me. Hopefully this will work.

They have ruled out a bad battery, other bad sensors, unsure if they have checked the wiring and harness for any breaks or shorts, am sure they have.

They have said hopefully this should sort it but if it doesnt willl have to start examing from scratch again.

Any ideas on what the issue may be and what the best fox for it is, as well as similiar experiences and advice would really be appreciated.

J

Hi,

Have you still got the original sensors?
Where did you get the replacements?

Never seen timing chain jump on a m54, it’s a double chain set up.
