Hi everyone, after some help please. I have a strange oil leak from the very front OS of my E93 325 cab. It’s coming from in front of the front OS wheel, but the oil is strange, almost a dark purple colour. I have attached a couple of photos as best as I could get them. The oil seems to be on a pipe and a round metal object about the size of a tennis ball, both of them are at the very bottom of the engine bay. I can’t see any oil further up. Anyone have any idea what might have happened?

And to save the comedians some time, it’s not any kind of hair care product :-)

Thanks everyone.

Don't these have oil filled bushes on that arm? (Possibly thrust arm)

Scrap that, just had a look at the photo on a bigger screen.

Actually, is that the end of a suspension arm? I really can't tell from that photo.

Thank you Shogun, I had no idea the bushes were oil filled, and having had another look at the car and asked Mr Google, it does appear that they are oil filled, and that they are known for leaking, so I think you have hit the nail on the head. Thank you so much.

It had me stumped as it looked like transmission fluid but is not coming from anywhere near the gearbox, and apparently the suspension fluid is very similar.

Off to the BMW shop then, so pleased to hear its not the engine anyway :-)

No problem. I only know as I've got the arms and steering rods in my conservatory to fit to my father in laws E93 330d. I paid £26 for that arm made by TRW so shouldn't be an expensive fix. Undertray off, one ball joint and one bolt. I'd factor in an hour on a ramp.
