Does anyone have any recommendations of protection grills that are made to fit the cayman 718 GTS to protect the radiators. I feel that due to the open design of the front bumber these are very vulnerable to damage from stones . I have looked on the zunsport website and it seems that they don’t provide grills for this model ?

Give them a call, if they’ve not sorted some out already and you’re the first that they use to make a set you’ll get a decent discount, maybe free?

718 GTS is required by Zunsport. See: https://www.zunsport.com/development-vehicles

You'll likely get them for free but they'll need your car a while. Ask for Peter the MD.

Check out www.caymanoc.com for information on Zunsport which could be to your advantage if you join up.

Zunsport was looking for a GTS car to test fit and make one, join our 718 facebook page and you find the person

I was told by a 981 GTS owner that he couldn't install protection grills as it would invalidate his warranty - something to do with restricting the airflow to the radiators! I would check with OPC before you spend your money.

As I've said before, Leicester OPC passed my 981 for its 111 point check and extended warranty with a full set of Zunsports in situ.
I even pointed them out when booking the car in and they said no problem.

Sutton Coldfield OPC also said no problem when I enquired about affecting the warranty before buying the Zunsports.

For the 3 year factory warranty you should be OK. Porsche would need to prove that any warranty claim they want to reject is directly a result of fitting grilles. That would be tricky to do IMHO.

For the post-3 years old extended warranty the car has to pass a 111-point check to be 'accepted', and while some OPCs may vary on their application of the rules, they would technically be a fail - they are non-Porsche approved parts. I haven't seen the extended warranty wording, but as it's an insurance policy they may state that any mods invalidate the entire warranty, not just parts that could be affected by the modification. If someone who has the extended warranty could check exactly what it states that would be great smile

So make sure you're happy with what you're doing before you fit any grilles. Unlike the 981 models, which had bumper holes you could almost get your head in(!), the 718 GTS seems to have much smaller holes and the risk of damage to rads and condensers is much less.

Thanks for the advice, I will check this out with my dealer.

The gap in the front bumber is quite large and after only 400 miles the condenser radiator as already got signs of superficial damage hence my concern .

It's annoying isn't it? The GT cars get grilles but the non-GT don't. I wish they'd put them on all models mad

I put grills on mine, they can be taken off, and have had not one jot of comment from the OPC in the 2 years since. Get them put on rather than risk the inevitable stone through a condenser issue.

Fair play. Couldn't find the grills for my 981 GTS so dropped an email and got a quick response.

I think I'll put a set on mine as I too look at the basking shark sized intakes and the rad's with no protection..

Zunsport grilles fit great, look good and don't invalidate the extended warranty in my experience - not connected to zunsport in any way!

They would at Hatfield! I had Porsche 5mm wheel spacers on my 981CS and they had to be taken off to renew. When I mentioned about grilles, it was a big no no, even though I once saw a car they had for sale with them on! Very hit and miss re which OPC's are ok with non-standard items.

Exactly my experience. I would have to remove my grilles to pass the 111-point check, then risk having a claim rejected if I re-fit them and they were deemed to be the cause of the fault.

It's so damn frustrating given that the GT cars have grilles!!!!

My former CGTS is for sale at an OPC with the Zunsport grilles still attached - it will be warranted with the usual 2 years for an AUC . . .

It really depends on the OPC - Tewkesbury removed the Zunsport grills on the BGTS I bought from them but at least they left the PPF in place.

Have a 981 Cayman 2.7.

Fantastic car apart from on major design omission. The radiators are very exposed to road detritus and stone being kicked up etc.

Get Zunsport protectors, or whatever, asap. Inspection of the radiators shows a lot of minor damage already. There is literally nothing to protect the n/s and o/s radiators.
