I've been offered a few domain names which I could be interested in.

At this stage it's a "make me an offer" which I've done and obviously got the response "ooo that's too low".

I'm just wondering if there's a way/place I could have a look at to put a value on them.. sort of webuyanycar for domain names.

If they said the offer is too low, no harm in asking what sort of value they were expecting ... could save you a lot of fannying around.

Yep and they're "waiting for a friend to let them know realistically what they're worth"

Look for similar domains on sedo. Ultimately it's worth what someone is willing to pay.

along with looking on Sedo for comparators:
- what extension are they (.com / .co.uk or somehing less relevant?)
- do a search to see if the same domain names are available with other extensions, if so (from the major ones) then you either need to buy those as well, or it may devalue the ones under consideration
- think about what gives them value, is it that they are a very short .com (6 letter+ are easy to find, so 5 is slightly more valuable, 4 pretty good, 3 or less, very valuable)
- or are they common words, which might hold a value - do some searching on how popular they might be as e.g. a keyword search on Google
- if other versions of the domains are extant, then check whether someone else might therefore hold a trademark, which could remove any value to the ones you have been offered
- check company names and trademarks as well for the same reason

domains can hold a huge value e.g. chess.com which reputedly sold for over a million, but equally they can hold no value - anything where a simple alternative could be registered has no value, there are a lot of people out there who believe their domains are worth a lot, but unless they can drive a commercial gain for you, then they are probably not...

I doubt they're worth anything like what the seller thinks they are.

What are they out of interest?

Are they a company name?

Can you just register something similar for a few quid?
