Looking at buying a car that is on an 07 plate. Looking it up online, I can see it was first registered on 12/11/2007. In which case, I'd expect to see it on a 57 reg.

Or is there a valid scenario where this can be correct?

Thanks.

You can put any plate on a car as long as it doesn't make it appear newer.

The car being an import is the most likely explanation, unless the plate on it currently has been purchased by a previous owner.

No, it isn't. The most likely explanation is MY07 BMW or some other toss.

Thanks both, it's just a Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI. Wondering if pre-registered originally by the dealer or something, and that not counting toward "first registration"? The 07 number plate on it is just a bog standard DVLA issue, not private or anything.

It could still be a private plate. Although it might look like a normal plate to you the letters may have meant something to the person who bought it.
