A bit of good news for me. After waiting two months for my Steinhart Ocean 500 to be repaired (for the second time), it seems that Steinhart have given up on repairing the Soprod movement and replaced it with the ETA instead.

I haven’t been happy with the performance of the Soprod whatsoever, given that it stopped repeatedly until finally dying, so hopefully I’ll get a good life out of the replacement that Steinhart have now opted for in the Ocean 500.

As a £500 watch, it’s a really nice thing, aside from the obvious stopping. Nice weight, nice to look at, and not a direct rip off / homage unlike some of their other models.

I think there were quality issues with the Soprod movement in general as I’m not the only person to report a problem, and I suppose it explains their decision to move to ETA movements too.
