Head Rest

Stupid one really. We all know that a badly positioned headrest can do more harm than good if not set at the right height when needed. My problem is that I adjust mine to the correct height, but as I drive around it gradually slips down. Anyone any ideas (hopefully simple) on how it can be stopped.

Squirt some Sikaflex 291 down the hole - that should fix it don't worry they're only decorative - there should be no more that about an inch between your head and the restraint to be effective. I can't find a position that would put my head there unless I rest my feet on the sun visors!

I've seen some TVRs with a spacer between the top of the seat and the headrest. Looks like the spacer would slide up over the head rest shaft and stop it from going all the way down in the seat. Speak to a dealer, they can probably sort some out.

my headrest slides down and makes a mark on the leather so anything to stop that would be great!

Prior to my taking ownership, my headrests seem to have been in permanent contact with the seat backs, so when I moved them up, the tops of the seatbacks were permanently "indented"

My passenger headrest works ok, but the drivers side keeps falling down. I might try a small light coloured cable tie.

Nah, just tall. In any crash where I needed the support of the headrest, I reckon the top of my skull would be removed like the shell of a boiled egg when it came in contact with the targa/roll hoop.

Therefore I never really care what height my headrest is at.

I'm not deaf.

I have owned it for a few months now, but it's only as the weather gets better and I'm doing longer journeys that I began to think about the safety issues.
The idea of a spacer to hold the rest up and stop it marking the leather when down is a good one. Just got to think what to use now that won't look naff.

Needs to be some sort of tube that will fit over the support post and could be cut to length for the correct height .......hmmmmmm

LOL... sadly I had to use it as a foot extender to reach the peddles.

Major downside being I struggle to get on the big rides in Disney now!!

seriously tho... have you considered putting in a rivet into the headrest bar just above where you want it to catch the top of the seats... it would create a tiny permament bump which could still be pushed into the seat when needed... and put at the back would be virtually invisable.

Daft idea for the day! but darn it it just may well work......

Just for information I am temporarily using some foam pipe insulation cut to length. It's split along it's lenghth and so opens and fits round the headrest post a treat. Looks a bit naff in grey but will do until I think of something better.
