How do you all cope?

I work with a guy that has worked there for 30 years, he thinks he is the sysadmin, the db admin, the ceo, the HR director, the warehouse admin, he is on all the work committees and council and thinks he is the most important person in the building despite being a .net programmer.

If you park in the wrong space he goes to HR, if you are late he goes to HR, if you are sick he prints out sickness forms and puts them on your desk...

In an office of 20 people we will have the air con on but he comes in and without taking his coat off will turn it off because it makes his nose run. the poppet.

If you have a window open he will close it because he'll only accept the office being acceptable for him. The office takes a vote on the status of the aircon and he disregards it, he's actually said he's more important than us.

Our office manager is spineless by the way so just looking for answers there is impossible. Without chinning him how would the great PH mess with him? I've already set the aircon to come on every hour which has made the prick rage.

You all need to state your feelings in a group to him (team meeting or similar), in a professional yet firm way.

Go to HR with a grievance from the rest of the office. Better yet everyone take it in turns so there’s an individual new complaint everyday.

'You are IT for goodness sake, not someone important. Sit down, shut up and write a programme for something while we try and make some money here.'

I suspect the OP is in IT too, so that approach is unlikely to help.

Mind you, at least there’s a fair chance he’ll know the difference between a program and a programme.

Control, Alt and a kick in the nut sack?

I do sympathise though.

I'm a member of a car forum a regular contributor to one of the more pupular advice sections thinks he owns the place to.

He sounds similar to somebody at my place. Luckily I can avoid him for days at a time though. If I need to go in to the workshop office and he's in there I will usually wait until he's gone. He has no authority to ask me to do anything but he still does, I simply ignore him.

He continuously makes mistakes but because he's pally with the dept manager he gets away with them. He never, ever apologises or takes responsibility for his mistakes. He simply either does'nt say anything or tries to blame somebody else.

He's very abrupt, does'nt say please or thank you and is an only child. I can't think of a single person on the shop floor that likes him. In a nutshell he's a jumped up receptionist that thinks he's the service manager.

I think you should band together a group of people and all complain about this weapon you mention

A collective grievance would be a good start.

Just ignore him and everyone do what they want, if he closes the window, go open it again. Whilst he is off to close it, someone else opens another one and so on. Work as a team, mess with his mind for a bit until he winds his neck in........

This is the way I’d do it. There’s enough if you to fk around with him a bit!

Indeed. As a General Rule if the manager doesn't care/has no ability to run the place, then HR will do little either............

I just want to mess with him, he's a massive racist, misoganist and homophobe yet goes to HR if someone says pikie as he has irish heritage.

I once called him out and said I'd go to HR when he was being racist to a Muslim guy but he said I'm more important than you who do you think they'll believe.

The whole office has decided he's a prick we just need creative ways to mess with his head

You don`t need to mess with his head, what you need to do is collectively make it clear to your employer that the guy is unacceptable and is unsuitable to work in a large office.

Don`t play games, sort your working life out , or shut up and put up with it.

You either are happy to be bullied or you are not.

Your an adult. Either confront him or don’t. If you do, be professional and have witnesses. If you don’t, ingnore him and move on.

I do confront him, which I feel is making it difficult for me as no one else will stand up to him.

Where it is just me telling him to leave the Aircon or saying it's fk all to do with you my sickness everyone else puts their head down and pretends nothing is happening.

I've gone in and told the boss and he agreed he's a tt but shrugged his shoulders and said sort it out amongst yourselves.

I'm not bothered as I ignore him and everytime he speaks to me I make it clear he's a tt and and I don't want him to speak to me.

Now it sounds like I'm whining when that wasn't my intention, just wanted ways to make Gordon britass squirm
