ford speedo cable for westfield ???
Discussion
my westfield needs a speedo cable. the problem is when i went to the local motor shop he had about 10 diffent ones (for a 5 speed seira box). so i dont know what to do?
another thing is its got a speedo out of a triumph aparently! anybody know if this will fit. i dont think it will but still i thought its a good starting point (i also have a yamaha speedo if it doesnt fit the trimph one).
so can anybody help???
Contact Westfield parts dept at Kingswinford, usually very helpful.......
When you find the correct cable required go to "Partco", usually two thirds of Westfields price......
When fitting your new cable try to avoid sharp bends, very important if you are to avoid further cable breakages......
Or, consider ditching the mechanical speedo altogether, and fitting an electronic one.............
Oh! and make sure your car is jacked up correctly, when working underneath. on AXLE stands on LEVEL ground, with chocks behind the wheels............

Speedy cables will make you a cable of whatever length you like, to connect any gearbox to any speedo.
They can also recalibrate the speedo for you, for a fairly reasonable price.
Amongst the oddball stuff they've done for me is a Fiat 5-speed gearbox to a Vauxhall Chevette speedo, and a Ford gearbox to a Skoda 130 speedo.

westfield do a gear pod which gets rid of the kink of cable coming out the gearbox and snapping every ten minutes. It's pricey, but how much of a bastard is it to get the cable in and and the circlip on the gearbox every 500 miles. You could also use a pedal cycle computer.LCD display, make up a bracket on the rear wheel, run it to the front(cable may need lengthening) and bolt to the dash.Precision speedo for less than a tenner.Even has a clock!!!

My Westfields speedo (type9 gearbox to VDo gauge)cable keeps snapping so i've brought a hunter transducer and an electronic gauge. The hunter transducer splices into the existing speedo cable and should sit infront of the drivers seat. I've yet to fit it though so carn't say how well it will work.
Its an expensive option as well.
