Found a thread on here from 10 yrs ago..

Should I not have received this NIP within 14 days of the offence?

Date of offence 24/3/18
Date of issue 13/0418
NIP received today 16/04/18

But, I did buy the car on the date of the offence so they probably sent the NIP to the PO first?

Does any of this have any relevance?

That's about what I figured. It was £60 the last time (about 6 yrs ago) so obviously it has become twice as dangerous , hence the increased fine.

No speed awareness courses up here either.
They can throw in a dangerous driving charge for excessive speed but you're well below that

No need for a speed awareness course anyway. I was well aware of my speed when the parked up van came into view as I rounded a corner but at that point it was too late!

I have been spoilt for the last five yrs, there are hardly any scam vans where I live and most of the time I am on roads where it is a challenge to achieve the speed limit!

Also, I had my 75 yr old mother in the car with me, had I been doing anything dangerous she would have been the first person to let me know about it smile

Where about was the camera van?

Since the average speed cameras were installed all the traffic seems to go about 60 these days on the A90.

A90 Perth to Dundee road at Flatfield, Perth and Kinross (140), according to the NIP.

I am pretty sure the stretch I saw the van on wasn't covered by average speed cameras.

Correct, Perth-Dundee doesn't have average cameras.

See a camera van now and again around that part of the road and further towards Dundee.
Will bear it mind again when later this week when I'll probably be driving on it again.

It seemed like Most of the journey once I got out of Aberdeen was covered by average speed cameras and on top of that I think I saw three vans down nr Perth/Dundee .

It's such a joy to go for a weekend road trip!

In the six yrs I have lived in the Aberdeen area I have never got a point in my license..

I always see a camera van around Dundee when passing through, they even operate one at night down there, often on the Kingsay Dual Carriageway.

Post a photo of your NIP up. I bet it has something along the lines of “the NIP was sent to the registered keeper within the 14days” written in big red letters on it.

It’ll be an FPN 3 points and £100

Ref unsigned, go to the forums at pepipoo.com and you'll get full and up to date advice.

Scotland has never closed the legal 'loophole' to show that the returned form must be signed (which HAS been closed in England and Wales) the procurator fiscals office has so far shown an unwillingness to test it in court (if it went the wrong way it would be the end of speed cameras in Scotland and the Scottish higher courts generally lean to the more libertarian than E&W courts).

They have issued a few citations but have never taken one to trial so far, its obviously your call on that.

Commiserations to the OP, have driven a lot faster than that between Perth and Dundee, funnily enough i've always found that stretch of road quite tolerant compared to the likes of Angus.

Have always hated the A90, worse than ever now with the average speed cameras, drove Aberdeen to Perth via Glenshee a few weeks ago, but it's like having a workout when pushing on, fun though biggrin

No it doesn't have anything like that written on it in red or otherwise!

His first suggestion is as unlikely to be true as his second. You will 99% certain neve get an FPN, however if you sign the reply a CoFP is likely (Conditional offer of a Fixed Penalty), a different beast.
