Plenty of fancy Fallout Removers available.
That's brake dust, not tar.

Virosol - the detailer who used to do the rounds on the TTOC put me on to it years ago. It’s an industrial degreaser - costs next to nothing and can be diluted down with water.
I used to use it everywhere; under the hood, under the arches, on the wheels etc. this was my old TT (68k miles and about 7-8yr old at the time) after virosoling it under the hood/all over it looking like new again)...

I heard they mainly use it in chip shops and industrial kitchens lol

Ask your OPC what to use. Anything else may invalidate your warranty.
"Ah... sorry sir, you've been using (any of the above) and so we're not going to play ball are we sir? No sir, we are not."
...from personal experience when PGB claimed I'd been using acid cleaner on my wheels which caused hundreds of micro-chips (?) - just a wild stab in the dark on their part of course. I hadn't.
They backed down eventually. I think they'll be chemically testing wheel surfaces soon!

Autoglym now do an Iron / fallout remover called Magma. If you need something you can easily pick up at Halfords.
Thanks for all the responses, that's a lot of products. Taking a fairly conservative (and ph neutral!) approach I tried Halfords / Autoglym first, and Magma seemed to do the trick quite nicely, with minimal effort:Edited by jimbo761 on Wednesday 18th April 17:37

Margarine works, and yes I'm being serious. It's one of the reasons I don't eat it any more..."Ah... sorry sir, you've been using (any of the above) and so we're not going to play ball are we sir? No sir, we are not."
