I think I've discovered another niggle. At the last service I had the bonnet release cable replaced.

However, I still can't get the bonnet open (DOH!). So, either:

1) The bonnet release doesn't work
2) It does work, but I can't lift the bonnet at the same time as pull the release lever
3) I'm pulling the wrong lever altogether.

So, does anyone know:

1) How to open the bonnet externally (mail would be best)
2) What the trick is to hold the bonnet at the same time as pulling the release lever
3) Have a picture of the lever itself (or an accurate description of where it is - the factory's 'left centre of the transmission tunnel isn't great').

thanks!

Bonnet release lever is located on the underside of the steering column. It is an alloy lever.
Best method of operation I find is,
Get out of car leaving the drivers door open, and while holding the bonnet (lifting gently) pull the lever down.
Ensure the lever is pushed up to the column before closing the bonnet.

That works for use on both the T350 and the Tamora.

The lever is under the steering column (and usually hanging down a bit looking like it's broken). Get out of the car, leave the door open. Left hand, reach in and pull lever gently, reight hand gently lifting bonnet until it opens.

hmmm, completely diffenent to the Tamora then (I've got a Tamora manual!).

I did try the alloy lever and it doesn't feel to have enough resistance to be releasing the bonnet. Another one for the snag list I suspect!

Latest Tamora is the same as the 04 T350.

Latest Tamora is the same as the 04 T350.

The manual says "located left centre under the dashboard just above the transmission tunnel". It also helpfully shows a picture of a black plastic handle on which there is a picture of a car with an open bonnet. It shows the location next to two heater vents.

The manual goes on to describe other various features about my Tuscan (and the 1st page describes the high power to weight ratio of my t350).

Don't you just love the attention to detail?

Open the window reach in pull the lever (no resistance) and lift bonnet at the same time, you can then have access to the bonnet stay open thingy without having to let go of the bonnet and go round the door.....

Yep, so true, but don't forget to throw a cloth/towel under the boonet lock mechanism first (otherwise the bonnet will lock itsef again!), as the strut is on the drivers side!

Later cars the lever is on the steering column.....which I assumed was on the drivers side. Or should I say, the later car that we have, the lever is on the steering column. (two very different statements!)
Apologies to you Chris, I thought you may have modified yours

I resemble that remark!!! ,, yes, opening the bonnet with the lever on the passenger side is a nightmare! (especially as I'm only 5'7"!). I have to hold the bonnet, pull the lever, keep the bonnet held up until I throw a cloth into the mechanism, to stop it shutting again, then, I have to walk right around the other side and secure the bonnet!!!
And to rub salt into the wound, the oil dipstick requires maximum stretch, usually resulting in some part of my anatomy being burnt!! no matter how prepared I am!! lol

Chris,
Try checking diptsick hot, and then if at max, try again next morning to see what this eqautes to the level before start up and mark dip stick acordingly. Did this on the T350 and I can now check the level cold as at least an some form of indication.

What a good idea! cheers for that advice, so simple when you think about it!
