Small, Fun & Sub £4k?

After suggestions for something small, fun and £4k or under for a mate.

He recently sold his Impreza WRX STI hatchback. He’s previously owned 2 EP3 Type Rs but wants something different this time. Ideally sub 70k mileage and something more modern.

My initial suggestion was a Clio 197. Thoughts?

Mini Cooper S, Turbo and supercharged versions should be within budget.

Clio 172/182. I do love the look of the 197's and they are getting very cheap now but they use a fair bit more fuel and generally cost more to maintain. Still great cars but probably not quite as well regarded as the previous models.
