I have a mini box connected to a TV approximately 7m from the main Sky Q box, separated by 1 internal wall. Broadband is fine, got the latest BT home hub with 50mb download speed.

The issue I have is that the mini box will intermittently lose connection or just stutter, like it's buffering or something, but only when the main Q box is also on at the same time. If you use the mini box by itself with main Q box off, it performs fine. Main Q box performs fine whether the mini box is on or not.

Any suggestions?

Did they not leave you with a booster box to put between them?

If not I would call Sky and ask for one.

Nope, never even mentioned it. It was installed in December last year. But surely it can manage 7m without a booster?

Don't forget that both boxes connect to your WiFi rather than each other IIRC. I've got all my boxes connected via power line plugs so if you have any of those then it may be worth a look.

They have powerline built in. You don’t need separate plugs. Google it, theres a hidden engineer menu.

Not for much longer. It's disabled in the new software release currently rolling out.

It was only AV1.1 (55Mbit/s) power line anyway, so far better to use external adapters.

Mine is around 12 m away with only a plasterboard well between and that can't cope without the booster just the other side of the wall.

My main box is plugged into the ethernet and the second one is wifi, but, I was told it was set up to feed off the first box and not on my wifi.
I think this must be the case as the main router is only a few metres away, in fact closer than the booster.

I believe the op has BT broadband so I'm not sure it would work properly.

Mine was equally rubbish, until sky put in booster. Also my main box is wired into my Virgin BB router, which may have helped.
I was very disappointed when I first got it over a year ago, but in fairness it has settled down now.

Off topic but i’ve added all HD channels to favourites & reordered logically, eg the first 5 channels in HD order etc. Makes it s lot nicer to use.

Rang sky and after 30 mins on the phone they claim to have fixed it.

Apparently the main and mini were set up backwards. As in the mini was trying to connect to my WiFi router and then sharing the signal with the main box, rather than the main box being connected to the router and then broadcasting the signal to the mini.

I'm not sure if this is possible because when the engineer set the boxes up, my 2nd TV wasn't even there. We just plugged the mini in to pair it to the main box and then turned it off again where it remained off for about a month. All the while, the main box was connected happily to the router and working fine. I'll need to test it out and see if it has made any difference as they made these changes remotely.
