Appreciating Cars 20k/25K
Discussion
Hey guys,
I am looking to finally buy something a little nicer as I approach 40. ;-(
Thinking of spending around the 20/25k
Fan of the Porches/BMW M's & the GTR's
Any thoughts on what would be a good buy? Future classics/cars that are on the up as well as putting a huge smile on your face??
Thanks in advance.
Regards
D

Now I might be a bit bias but I've just bought a Maserati Spyder manual 6 speed, they only made 574 worldwide, currently 3 on Pistonheads in your price range, at some point I'm guessing they will rise in value.I am looking to finally buy something a little nicer as I approach 40. ;-(

There is talk of the 90's Jap stuff increasing in value when they can be imported to america when the 25 year rule ends. Supra, R32 GTR could be worth a look, you'd get a good one for that.
Yeah I have looked at that actually. Do you know anymore about the 25 year rule?Any idea why the R32 is or seems to be less desirable than the R34??
Thanks!
D
If you fancy something once-in-a-lifetime, 20-25k could still catch you a TVR Griffith 500 the values of which are currently plateauing slightly having been relentlessly increasing for years. They're a guaranteed classic and a very safe investment, though the rebirth of TVR and passing of the 25-year Yank import rule *could* cause an immediate spike. I promise it'll be a more exciting and unforgettable ownership experience than anything Ze Germans can provide.

I'd look at it a different way, I'd buy something that's no longer shedding money & anything after that is a bonus, because what maybe appreciating now may be losing money in a few years time.
With this in mind I'd take a look at some of these:

1. Much fewer R34s were produced than the previous models. Thanks!
D
2. R34 is still in the honeymoon period of being imported in the USA.
3. Paul Walker/Fast & Furious - you can't underestimate what a big deal those films have been to the US market. The Fast and Furious R34 sold at auctionn for $1.74 million. It is probably more recognisable to most Americans than the Calsonic R32.
4. Quicker/Younger/Modern Interior
Personally, I'd have the R32 over the R34 anyday but there you go.
