Ive been reading around on the web that common thinking is now not to necessarily powder coat paint callipers
Due to the extra expense and faff.
But painting them with heat resistant paint is good enough if done properly.

Now Im thinking of giving it to my wheel refurb place to paint them in place to red from silver. (Panny 4s)

The advice he gave me from experience is that painted you dont get the following
1. Deep gloss finish
2. The laquer or gloss applied on painted callipers doesnt tend to last and starts to peel
So his suggestion was to just paint with a few coats of the paint colour but not coating.

Does anyone have any real world examples or advice...

I'd try and find out what process Porsche/Brembo follows on their red steel brake calipers. The calipers on my 981 GTS look like new - bright red and shiny.

Mrs Twinfan's Focus RS mk3 has blue painted Brembos and they look as new too, so whatever Brembo are doing seems to work...
