Rim braked Aeroad with 404's, rim braked Tarmac or disc braked Tarmac? Same gearing on all three, and comfort isn't an issue. Would the bike make much difference?

Good work! I'd love to be a position to do this (fitness mainly!).

For me disks would be a given - I find them much more confidence inspiring for the descents. After that it would be comfort all the way.

I've ridden some double centuries on my Aeroad and it's bloody painful by the end of it. For a one-off, if you're chasing a time and you're well conditioned, then go for it. If you're looking to enjoy for more than the competition then whichever bike can fit the biggest tyres on - likely to be the disc bike. 28s and up (and tubeless if possible) make such a difference. If the roads are in good condition then dropping your pressures a little will help a lot.

You won't need discs imo in mallorca. Roads out there are great too!
Take whichever you'll be more comfy on imo!

Just been out on the Aeroad and took a bit of a battering on the local roads which are ina real state. Roads in Majorca are a lot better but it’s a long distance. I think I’ll go with one of the tarmacs and actually think the disc one might be the best. Going to be a lot of people riding the event and sure to be lots of accidents on the descents. Discs will give me a bit more reassurance.

I am all sorted to ride it on a Merida Reacto Team disc and have sorted out a Merida 9000 Disc for my riding buddy of 30+ years.

Rode a Reacto Team with rim brakes and carbon wheels in Taiwan which convinced me to go disc.

Confident I can do the 312 day but plan to do Sa Calobra the next day which may be a struggle on any kind of bike!!!
