I'm on the verge of giving the bike school at Infinity in Farnborough £600 to do my Direct Access. Any comments? Are there any training places in the woking area with a particually good reputation?

All advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Phill

Do you mean 1st Gear? they are next to Infinity but are not part of the same company, although if you've ever bought anything from one of them they give you a 10% discount from the other if you see what i mean. In fact i did my DAS with them last summer and passed first time (clean sheet) so their teaching methods are pretty good, they're also a friendly bunch, think i paid about £500 for my DAS 1 day cbt, 2 days 500 training and a test. I'd already done the theory test before my DAS which is highly advisable.

Another local training school which is very good (i'm doing my advanced training with them right now) is Key rider, based up the road in mychet, they are also ace, but a bit cheaper i think you'll find.

I'd recommend them both 100% Good luck with your DAS

Yep, 1st gear thets the one. I've never ridden a bike so the £600 option seems the most sensible, plus they include the theory aswell as a CD rom for the hazard test. It looks like a goer then.

Thanks,

Just check with them that they don't book your practical test before you have passed the theory test as they'll charge you £150 extra if you fail the theory and need another test date. If i was you i'd do the theory test off my own back (book it on line via the DSA website) and get a training disk off someone. Drop me an e mail and i'll sort you out with a bsm training cd rom F.O.C. it got both me and my mrs through our theory tests! Once you've passed it you can book firm dates for training and practical tests.

IIRC key rider do a 5 day DAS for £525 inc theory test, day 1 cbt, days 2,3 and 4 training and test on day 5. Both training schools are excellent, you won't go wrong either way IMHO

Good luck

Infinity ...a Joke (IMHO). know of quite a few unhappy people that have visited them over the past few months.

I passed my test back in 1991 with Key Rider. Bloody Hell is he still going?? IIRC He used to have a mint RG500 in his collection (Steven Key).

Go with him, used to based in Southwood, trains in Mytchett Community Centre Car Park. I passed my Part 2 after three lessons. Nice one.

Can't recommend a training centre I'm afraid... passed my test when it was only 1 part!!

However, I just wanted to agree with the sentiment about Infinity... it's the same bunch of idiots from Motorcycle City..... most particularly the fat pikey gobshite in their 'performance centre'.

Good luck Phil, I'm sure you'll get though it fine.

First gear is not owned by Infinity, it just happens to be next door to their shop as they get more custom that way. I had no worries with First gear when they got me through my test last year (first time i may add).

As far as Infinity goes, I rate the clothing section very highly, these guys do know their stuff, I have no comments on the other sections of their.

Another good local bike shop i often use is Bykebitz in Yately - friendly staff and if they don't have something they'll order it in for you no worries

well done. But avoid infinity. They were motorcycle city, before carnells...

If a company needs three name changes to escape its repuation, what does that tell you?
