They all do that sir.

The TV tuner part of the TV switches on periodically to update the program guide (EPG), at least that's the explanation I've seen. My VT30 has done it from day one so nothing to worry about biggrin

These TVs also use a lot of power in standby mode unless you turn off some rarely-used option - I think something to do with remote recording ?

All of my TV watching equipment is connected to the local network and has Wake On Lan functionality, consequently I use an iPad as a remote. The only exception is the TV, which apparently can't keep its network card turned on due to standby power limits in the EU, necessitating the use of a dedicated IR blaster and associated power supply - however it can just randomly click and attempt to do other stuff that I never use in the background. This frustrates me on a much greater level than it should. furious

I hope these replies are right. My GT50 plasma started doing this about three months ago, it ended up turning itself off randomly. It got to the stage where it wouldn't turn back on no matter what I tried. I took it to a local electronics repair shop. They said they'd had a sudden influx of Pana plasmas all doing the same thing. They downloaded some soft/firmware (?) and it was fine for a couple of weeks. Then it started doing it again. They suggested turning it completely off at night as they thought it was the telly trying to update with a dodgy update. I do that every night now and so far so good.

It always does this, its a function to check for software updates automatically.

It's never found one in 12 years. laugh
