Looking to get some new tyres, and the 96Y ones are significantly cheaper than the 92Y equivalents (runflats). This is for F30 19" wheels. Is it ok to put 96Y tyres on or is it a big no no?

Going up in load rating is fine, just don't go below what was specified as OE (not for safety's sake, but 'just in case' for insurance purposes).

Does it affect the ride quality? I.e. would a 96Y be a stiffer ride than a 92Y as it's for a higher load?

As said, just don't go below what the handbook recommends.

It does tend to be the sidewalls that get stiffer with a higher load rating.
