MRS400 wants a new kitchen so we are planning on paying some stuff off, and giving the kids some each, (both moving in to new houses)

So we ll have then be putting £1500 a month somewhere.

Is it just a bank saving account or am I best looking at something else?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like short term savings with a specific purpose, so cash or NS&I looks best.

Anything else would require a longer term (at least five years) and you could get back less than you put in.

New kitchens can transform a home, so go with MRS400 on this!

This may be unpopular....

Buy now on 0% interest and pay back within the year?

Some companies will offer this, or 0% card.

This might save time or worry for your investment going up or down or struggling to get your cash out within the time frame you want.

I'm not a fan of buying on credit, but financially (assuming the OP can use a supplier that offers 0% credit) that does actually make sense!

The preference is to pay cash, but as you say Julian there is no real benefit in terms of the money growing over the year as its "just" a year and to be fair it could be less if we find something that fits the bill as such.

So in reality we can start looking about and see what is available and who does 0%.

O and Julian shes wanted this kitchen doing since about 18 months ago but her daughter decided she was getting married, so im fully behind getting it done as otherwise id be having a new car. (which is why its the saving for year idea)

Off to google I go thanks PH's
