Good evening all,

I'm lucky enough to be speccing a 540 Touring and was wondering if anyone had any experience of the adaptive suspension option? (not the rather expensive looking adaptive drive!).

If I understand correctly the AS allows you to choose how hard or soft the car rides - I can see some real value here when it come to transporting, for example, the mother in law.

Does anyone have any experience of this, it is any good? I currently have an A6 Allroad which whilst a bit of a bus if very good at this - the suspension change between modes is very noticeable!

Any help much appreciated.

My 430d’s In for a service and they’ve given me a 630d GT with adaptive air suspension, well, you can raise and lower the ride height and it has a ‘super comfort mode’.

Whatever it costs, tick that box!!

Mine's a G31 530d MSport Touring with adaptive suspension (sometimes called Variable Damper Control or Electronic Damper Control) and standard 19" wheels. I'd say it's worth going for the adaptive setup. There's a noticeable difference between Sport and Comfort but they're both very usable on UK roads and feel quite "natural" for the car. In Adaptive it will adjust between the other two settings seamlessly according to conditions and driver inputs. If you're sensitive to small differences in ride you'll notice that the 5 Touring is slightly superior to the Saloon. I guess this is because of the air suspension at the rear (and maybe the slight increase in weight).
