Bear with me...

A grating metal on metal noise from the NSF area. It's not always there, but does pop up several times on most journeys. It seems to amplify a bit when turning right at slow speeds.

The brakes have plenty of meat so not a wear issue. With the wheel off, the noise seems to go away, with the wheel back on, it seems to return somewhat. It doesn't sound "internal" but who knows?

I've not heard a bearing with this noise, but could it be??

Could be bearing flex encouraging the rotors to drag on the pads? Wouldn't expect that to produce the grating noise you describe, though. Nasty noises under cornering just suggest bearing damage. Any chance of a recording?
