Kit car E-Type values

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much values for kit car E-Types are, particularly the JPR Wildcat?. I know that the Challenger E-Type are now starting to rapidly fetch upwards of 30k, even as much as 50k (ones I've seen for sale), but they don't come up for sale much. As Wildcats are very seldom seen for sale there's not much in the way of valuing them.

I have a Wildcat which was my dads sitting in the garage after doing nothing for a few years, in need of some work, though I have no idea how much. Im in need of selling it once the mechanics and other issues have been assessed. There have been one or two Wildcats that have sold from 16-25k.

There was a Wildcat at Anglia Auctions which got bid up to about £13K from memory earlier this year. It didn't meet reserve but not sure if it sold later.

I was regularly in contact with one of the people involved in the Wildcat Club until fairly recently, but I believe the club (from what I last heard) was no more. The chap I spoke to didn't seem to give me much hope of selling the car for much money. I think they are way undervalued considering that real E-Types fetch upwards of 30k (even in rusty, bare body states), and Challengers which are fetching between 30-45k even more. And yes it's all down to originality and Jaguar parts and running gear and the engine I suppose, but still for a car that looks in every way like an E-Type and with so few made, they deserve more appreciation imo. Sadly a lot I've come across on the net seem to get abandoned in some way (like just sitting in someone's front garden as a garden ornament) or end up as spares and projects. I suspect the reason for this is due to low values, and maybe also parts being hard to find.

Many of the more obscure kit cars fall into disrepair once they are no longer in the hands of the original builder. It's not easy to understand or know your way round some of them, and to anyone short of an experienced builder and/ or mechanic they can seem a little daunting.

If you want to sell, and the club is no longer operational, you could try a multi make kit car club, like Southern Kit Car Club, or maybe even advertise it on auto trader under Jaguar E-type. Just make sure you say it's a replica, of course.

Couldnt find any mention if the Wildcat you mentioned at Anglia Auctions; looked through the previous auctions but can't find it listed. Odd that such a kit car would go the auction route.

However, I did find this Wildcat on eBay:

Not bad considering it's been sat unused since 2006, and also the body work looks in fine condition. Just a pity it doesnt look more original looking ie wire wheels instead of those awful things, no bumpers, window chrome, chrome headlight surrounds, etc.

The above Wildcat bid ended with a winning bid of £5,895, which is probably about right and was just a little more than what my dad paid for his 90% complete Wildcat.

They tend not to fetch much more than about 10-12k in decent nick, which is kind of a pity really considering theyre not a bad kit car (though ive often been puzzled as to why some dont have a rear and front bulge, despite the fact that theyre supposedly based on the same mould and using the same Ford components). There are some however that have fetched considerably more, around 17k, but they would have to be very good, perfect running examples.

I was talking with a bloke who tried to buy the moulds for the Wildcat, I believe he's built a few and better still I believe he's IVA'd them too. Martin James at Irntam Kitz

Theres a bloke on Youtube who isn't happy with his work, but I've been to his place and it looked fine to me.

I stress I haven't used him myself, but he was very helpful with some IVA help.

Thanks for the info. I've never heard of this kit company you mentioned or the person who's built a few Wildcat moulds.

With the eye watering money real E-Types fetch now I'm surprised noone has tried to start a new kit of them. But, as I've heard, the reason is due to lack of interest in E-Type kits compared to other, more popular kit cars. Triple C and JPR Cars stopped making the Challenger E-Type replica and Wildcat many years ago.

My late father has left one in France and I’m in 2 minds if it’s worth bringing back.
It’s had a recent respect (last 8/9years) in red.
I think it has Datsun running gear??
