Hello chaps,
I've got a strange issue with the fans on my Chim, if the engine is started and not run up to full operating temperature, then stopped, ie ignition switched off, one of the fans will kick in and remain on. It stops with turning the ignition on again, and occasionally when it feels like it will stop if you lock, unlock and flick the ignition on/off.
I've not bothered doing anything about it until now as fundamentally the fans are doing their job, when the car is actually hot they always click on/off as expected and on stopping the car switch off as expected. Anyone else suffered a similar problem? It's a minor but annoying niggle that I'd like to tick off the list

Yep, I've seen this a lot.
The otter switch should switch the winding of the relay directly to ground as the other side of the winding is live. somewhere in loom there is an earth splice which starts to go a bit funny with age and will be where your problem is.
The simple fix, pull both wires off your otter switch, and with ign on, put each in turn to full ground, whichever one starts the fans, put on your otter switch. the other, isolate and tuck away. Pull a true ground from somewhere and connect this to the other pin on the otter switch. Problem sort-of solved as I would dig in the loom to find the dirty splice personally....
