My Insurance company is now demanding another 28 pounds so they can value the car from a number of photos sent via email.

This was a free service and now decided to charge ..

I'm not going to pay this so called "extra" can anyone recommend another company ?

All depends on who your insurance company is, whether anyone can recommend "another "

That's disappointing to hear. I used to be with Classicline and I don't remember them asking for any photos for agreed value? But the last time I was with them was 2016.

Using Footman James these days. Unlike many classic car insurance companies, you can actually get a quote online to give you a rough idea. They charge £10 for agreed value.

I have my car insured at an agreed value with REIS. Only ever had to send them a few photos of the car, photo of speedo for mileage confirmation every two years and evidence of work done to the car to add the value in.

Been insured with them since March 2010 and have always enjoyed a good service from them.

Also with Footman James. Valuation certificate (independantly organised through my specialist who performed the majority of the work) supplied and £10 charge as said before.

Curiously no photos requested or sent, IIRC. Also, I'm on 3000 miles per year - but the actual mileage wasn't declared on renewal. (cos nobody asked for it.) I figured that MoT's carry mileage info if they reall want to check, so they no longer bother. Anyone else found the same?

My Chimaera is covered under an agreed value policy for 5,000 miles per annum but of course that won't cover my mileage now. She clocked over 39,000 this morning so am coming up on having covered 4,000 miles already very soon. So must get here sorted out here for insurance etc before very long.

If you're still in the TVRCC they'll do it for free if you send 6 photos.
Alternatively you could get a local dealer such as James Agger to value it but be aware that Classicline won't accept valuations from a dealer who services your car.

I am also with Classicline but unless they have changed their procedure there was the option of a valuation by a recognised TVR Dealer at no cost, apart from optional beer money for the helpful dealer.

They still do that. The only thing they’ve changed is the valuation can’t be from the dealer you use for servicing or other work. It’s a fairly recent change by them,

So £28 to guarantee a value of your car your happy with for a two year period, so £14 a year, can't see the problem myself.
Strange how much money folks will throw at their car, but when its so little to ensure that in the event if a total loss, they baulk at paying a small amount to ensure they are are paid out in full.

^^^^ This, absolutely this. Daz has probably got that lost down the sofa hehe
PS; I was (am) with Classicline and I never minded sending pictures etc of the TVR. I mean come on, would you just take someones word for it's value and offer to pay out on that basis? FFS!

Thanks for this thread Daz. Reminded me to call Classicline and check regarding TD insurance.

Upshot is, I failed to reinsure the car from Dec 2nd, naughty! Better insure it on Monday, suppose..........

Classicline here too. Cost £20 3 months back. Had to send a load of documents and pics from rebuild. Got a nice certificate with gv at £40k. Not bad for an early T350c.

On my CL policy I have six track days included which I've never used, when I asked if it was possible not to have these included and reduce my premium the answer was it's included in the policy and therefore wouldn't be any reduction.

They have stopped the pro rata ,I used to cancel at the end of summer and they would pay the balance.
