Water Wetter where to get this from

After another stint sat in London traffic int he TVR last weekend, watching the temp guage creep up and the fans cut in.... I have decided to put some water wetter in to the cooling system.

Does anyone know of the best place to buy this from.
I've see prices from £12 on Ebay to £20 elsewhere.
Does any national chain sell it ?

I would also consider getting a manual override for the fans fitted. That way you can proactively manage the fans. I tend to switch on at about 80 degrees, and it pegs the temp nicely.

This is a very cost effective mod that your dealer or independent TVR specialist should be able to take care of.

For what it's worth, Fernhursts, one of the best independents, told me they noticed zero difference in adding Water Wetter.....enven though WW's website it pretty convincing!

I use water wetter a lot .. not for it's better thermal-transfer but because it's great for chasing out air locks. Cerberas in particular are very difficult to bleed through properly, rover v8s less problematical .. but anything you can do to help water do it's job is a good thing IMO.

Getting rid of air locks is an important first step to ensuring your cooling system works properly .. any thermal transfer benefits the water wetter may bring can only help .. but once again i stress that if your cooling system is in good working order you shouldn't be experiencing any problems .. be wary of using water wetter to disguise a failing system .. but I say using it to help you bleed the system is a good use.

I think my cooling system is working OK, but I was hoping to take advantage of the supposed thermal transfer benefits. claim of reducing running temps by upto 15 decrees sound attractive.

Could be worth a try though. I'll drop you a line....

Thats interesting about helping get rid of air locks, although you say the RV8 isnt as bad. Its something that has taken me ages since the new rad, should of tried it.

yup, the water wetter i use (don't know if it's true of them all) helps lower the surface tension of the water itself .. it flows better and helps discourage a thin boundary layer of air forming on engine internals when you first fill it up .. then as the water pump does it's business it helps chase that air back out to the highest points where you just bleed it off.

for cerberas it's worth it's weight in gold so to speak .. and it's longer term thermal capabilities thereafter can help give you added safety margin for hard working engines.

At a fiver a bottle it's worth getting just for the placebo effect!
