Finally my first proper watch

Hi everyone,

I’ve been wanting the Omega moonwatch for some time with the hope it’d go away but the want was always there.

So I treated myself this week, the deal was too good to refuse (sub 2.5k).

I’ve always loved the look with a light brown leather strap, ideally alligator.

Has anybody got any recommendations for where to look online for straps?

Nice purchase. Watchgecko is a good site for straps. I recently replaced the original strap on my Longines Legend Diver for a Zulu Diver Rubber strap and it looks great and is just as premium as the Longines rubber strap which was something like €250.

A solid bet is to Google 'Pistonheads Watch Straps' and have a look at the 5-10 previous threads on this topic that are returned as the top results. Lots of good info and suggestions in them.

I got a couple of straps from Watchgecko for my moonwatch (a tan leather and a nato). Not alligator, more of a distressed rally look which I think suits the style of the watch. You can get the same strap without the holes and also in a darker brown which might be a bit smarter? Was less than £20 I think. The nato probably half that.

ETA search "geckota 20mm" in eBay. And I give up on trying to get images the right way round!

Is that pic taken in the drivers seat of an Audi TT? I can see some dash PH challenge to guess the chariot

Have you tried it with the NATO that comes with it? I presume you got the big box with bits and pieces in it too?

Love the look of the leather strap above, I’ll have a look on eBay after work thank you.

Not a fan of a rubber strap, especially with the current heat in the middle east.

Be careful with the hesalite, it marks very easily (the joys of it having to be soft so it doesn't shatter on the shuttle )

At least it polishes out easily.

Always liked the Speedys. I sold my Reduced last year and wish I hadn't. Might be time for a new one....

You can get an auto but afaik the actual certified "moonwatch" is manual (mine is anyway)

You could always go for the GasGasBones velcro strap if you want some NASA authenticity to go with the history of the watch.

Must admit i never knew that. That's a good size box and amount of goodies for the price!
