What did I see today?

Out on the golf course in Boston lincs today (no Flightradar24 to look at) and spotted an airliner with contrails at very high altitude, at least 34000ft and just visible were 3 military jets in formation, flying alongside, pretty close to the left wing and at a similar/same height.
The direction they were flying was within a designated air corridor, from the South going North.
Nothing in news about any Airliner comms emergency, could it be a head of state escort?

Ah! yes, it could have been refueling tanker and customers. I was looking out over the North sea , just off Skegness.
