Hi all,

I've come across a nicely specd Golf R Mk6 (11 reg) with 50,000 miles on the clock. I've been offered it for £14,750 and was wondering whether you think this is a decent deal and unlikely to depreciate THAT much in the first year if i'm only putting c.5000 miles on the clock?

Seems to be similar price for similar models but which have c.65,000 miles on their clocks.

Advice would be grateful!

2k more and that's mk7 territory. A much better platform too IMO.

Not seen a decent looking mk 7 R for 16,750.

Or even close. Unless a write off?

Price seams ok, how much you lose in a year and 5k miles will depend on how you part with it, trade or private sale, I wouldn't expect to loose more than about £1500 in that time if buying and selling privately.

From marshals VW so 12 months warranty. Good value for money imo.
Again it depends very much on preference so you might prefer a mk7.5 in bronze with certain wheels etc, obviously that would be northwards of 30k

No nav & a big little part of me thinks they have a line in 'slightly moody, but not moody enough to not be associated with' examples, having on occasion checked the stock, but that aside:

The Mk6 will & does have a following, but personally think it is a world of difference. Had a cooking Mk6 for a shortish while & hated it with a passion, to the extent of being happy to get back into a very leggy Ford, albeit slightly more generously engined smile. The 7 isn't perfect by any means, but different planet, even like for like. IMHO, of course.

The MK6R's really don't seem to move much, on the price front. With that being said, the MK7R's are much better cars and i think alot of the prices of the MK6's are a bit unrealistic and clearly sit there with not much interest.

There was a lad on Cliosport.net who had one and had to take a fair loss to get rid, as there was little interest from any potential buyers. He was asking about 17k and got a few grand under that, in the end. That was a few years ago.

Scirocco R's are even cheaper, if that's a potential possibility?
