Warm diesel bangernomics

Another bangernomics chat!

Looking at a “warm diesel” small hatch to boost commute smiles and reduce fuel costs. Have spent £1.5k on petrol since the New Year doing 100 miles a day round the M25 and along the M4. Oops.

Currently can’t see far beyond Fabia VRS or a Cooper D (a colleague promises his remapped 1.9 PD easily gets 55-60 real world on the mway).

Anyone any better ideas? Could spend 10k. Want to spend 2-5k.
