Longest time you’ve ever been on hold.....

So I usually hang up if kept waiting more than a few minutes, that is unless I’m on the phone because someone owes me money or because I owe them money (HMRC ONLY lol).
Anyway the longest I’d had until today was 90mins to HMRC. However VW Finance owe me money after selling my 991.....
Unbelievable! Even more annoyingly I held on and called from my wife’s phone and got straight through.
I’m not seeing the funny side at the mo.....

Many moons ago (circa 1998) I had issues with my Nokia Orange phone, so was on the phone to Orange - I gave u waiting after 1hr and left the phone, plugged in and listening to hold music, while I went on about my life. Came back to the phone later and it had terminated the call after 1hr 45, so I can only assume the operator came on line, found no-one there and ended the call. Nowadays I give up after 20-30 mins.
Many years ago when I worked in an office I had some issues with HMRC at self assessment season.
I rang their number at 8:45ish, plugged a set of headphones into the phone rather than put it on speaker and started work. I actually got a fright at 1030 when someone finally answered - I’d been listening to hold music so long I’d actually forgotten I was waiting for a person.
This was the umpteenth tome trying to call them about the issue and they didn’t resolve it. The problem tumbled on for a further decade before being written off when I involved a solicitor and the financial ombudsman
