Trainer advice (Cycleops Magnus)
Discussion
This is my first trainer, and I'm wondering if I'm setting it up correctly.
This trainer has a hand wheel to adjust the tension of the turbo roller onto the back wheel. The instructions say to do it up until the clutch in the adjuster 'clicks' and then it is pulling the roller onto the tyre at the correct pressure.
When I do this, it's really hard against the wheel, causing quite a lot of tyre distortion (700x25 at 100psi) and there's very little run down due to this high pressure, and with so little flywheel effect my already poor pedalling technique gets really choppy.
If you have used the Cycleops Magnus, is yours like this, or have a I got a clutch that's just too tight?

What would be the downside to just backing off the tension a bit until it "feels" right? Is the tension not locked into place until the clutch clicks?
If you can put the power on without the tyre slipping then the tension is good enough I think.
Tacx have a spindown calculator on the mobile app which shows you whether you have the tension correct or not, do Cycleops have similar?

Thanks for the replies, I'll take some pics so you can see how squashed the tyre is.
The Cycleops recommended app is Rouvy. I'm having to get a new device to run it as my old phone struggles to keep HR, Cadence and Trainer all connected at once! So far I have not been able to use the setup as anything 'smart'!
