I love it when the guy just tosses a spare wheel into the back of the Taunus.

Thanks for posting OP. thumbup

Sadly they are fitting them with that hopeless V4 Transit engine, even if the machine at around 2:30 seems to have the capability to do a V6! (The only one to have IMO).

Loved the smoking in the workplace - I had an ashtray on my desk from 1977 until 1991. Then I had to go missing!

Thats the Cologne V4 which was no better than the Essex V4 sadly , also notice the 3 cyl honing jig they must have used the same machine for the V6 version too

10 or more years ago, some guy built a period modified Mark 1 Escort GT from scratch and fitted a modified 2000GT V4 (Essex) and it was okay. With flowed head and blueprinting is was pretty smooth and had an unusual almost Boxer sound to it - it had about 120 bhp and it sat right back in the engine bay. The 1300 Cologne V4 revved like a bd as well, ultra short stroke.

The Essex V4 is 2/3rd's of the V6 with a balancer shaft fitted so any mods you can do to the 2.5 (less popular) and the 3.0 apply and these are many a very potent but over weight engine if modded correctly wink far more character than the Cologne unless you stroked one out to 3.5/3.7 then they came alive biggrin I do have a soft spot for the old 3.0 Essex cloud9
