Dashcam in W209 CLK convertible?
Discussion
Just had a Ring dashcam fitted to wife's W209 CLK and didn't realise until I drove off that the FM radio reception is now non-existent.
Have googled this at home and see it's a common issue (more so with DAB radio); any dashcam affecting radio reception depending on where the aerial is located.
Q1) Anyone fitted any dashcam to a W209 CLK and without adversely affecting FM radio?
Q2) Anyone know where the aerial is on a W209 CLK? may be able to advise fitter to re-route cable?
Have since been back to installer and he tried 3 other models of camera and tried re-routing power down LHS of windscreen instead of RHS, but still no FM radio.
Any help/suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks in advance,
Shentodj

The aerial on the convertible is located in the windscreen. You’re looking for a fine black line, most probably running vertically.
The Ring camera is a re-badged Chinese camera with a poor quality RF noise generating power supply. It won’t matter which side the cable for the camera is run, if the camera emits noise itself and it’s in proximity to the aerial then interference will occur.
My suggestion would be a higher quality camera like a Thinkware as sold by specialists rather than a Ring as sold by automotive accessory shops, the type that sell stick on chrome lettering, air horn kits and near-enough to match spray paint.
What other types of camera have been tried? If good quality camera have been tried maybe the aerial signal amplifier has developed a fault and is allowing RF to interfere unduly.
