I went to sparks steakhouse when there last year and had a very good if expensive steak. Should still be there as been there for years now.

Very good quality and service, if an interior still in the period and staff seemed very well connected to prior events there.....

Strip House gets my vote. Prefer the downtown to the midtown one but they're both consistently great in my experience. Not a Luger's fan at all.

Quite possibly the best steak I've ever had in the Strip House.

Aside from the inevitable recommendations for Keens, Gallaghers, Smith & Wollensky, and Peter Luger (cash only remember), consider Homestead (right opposite chelsea market & the apple store - there is a fake cow outside, so difficult to miss), Delmonico's, Strip House, Bowery Meat Company, Quality Eats, American Cut.
Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte is worth a shout too for simple steak frites done well (the SoHo one is better than midtown)

+1 for keens as it's quirky inside (in a nice way), also been to Mastro's a few times and never been disappointed

Sorry to hijack the thread, but any suggestions for mid-range Steak places in New York, preferably one with some alternative food for the non-steak eaters! Thanks!
biggrin

And Paris...neither of which I live in.
What’s your point? It’s still a good and sensibly priced steak.

No problem, and thanks all for the recommendations so far.

Finding a high end (or mid range) steakhouse with vegetarian options (yes I know) would be great (for my OH) but I’d imagine any such places are very rare smile indeed !

I don’t need it to be veggie, just a decent non-steak selection!!
