Baked some peanut cookies, but they don't taste of peanuts.
Discussion
We have been experimenting with cookie recipes, trying out different flavours etc. The chocolate chip and brandy soaked cranberries being our favourite so far, though the chocolate orange with marmalade were also very successful.
The peanut cookies were done with peanut butter instead of the butter that would normally go in and the mix tasted nicely peanutty, but when they were cooked, although the consistency was perfect the taste of peanut had almost gone. Is this something that happens with cooking peanuts, does it destroy the flavour?

It is probably a reflection of the fact that peanut butter is the devil's spawn. The peanut cookies were done with peanut butter instead of the butter that would normally go in and the mix tasted nicely peanutty, but when they were cooked, although the consistency was perfect the taste of peanut had almost gone. Just my opinion of course, your mileage may vary.
